Sally Ross was born in Melbourne in 1969. After completing graduate and post-graduate degrees in Fine Arts in Australia Ross then lived and worked in France for 8 years, completing another post-graduate degree whilst regularly exhibiting in the United States, Australia and Europe. She has exhibited her paintings consistently in Australia and internationally for over 30 years and is a five time Archibald Prize finalist. Her portrait The Huxleys was selected for the 100 Years of the Archibald Prize at the Art Gallery of New South Wales in 2021. A self-confessed art monster, she has run an artists’ squat in an abandoned 17th century hospice, worked for the Festival d’Avignon theatre festival and for one of the most innovative private art collections in France before her return to Australia in 2006.

Known for her landscapes and portraiture Ross’ work is represented in private and public collections in Australia, Asia, Europe and the United States.

Sally Ross is represented by Martin Browne Contemporary, Sydney and Smith & Singer, Melbourne.
